About the event

Veronica Palm left politics after many years at its absolute center and then wrote the feminist idea book "Sisterhood". She has also contributed to a number of anthologies, and writes chronicles in Dagens Arena, Korren and ETC. She is also chairman of All Women's Houses, Sweden's largest women's shelter. Now Veronica is releasing a new detective story called A High Price .

Vilma studies ironing courses at the university and lives the free life that every nineteen-year-old wants. And then she sells sex. After a police raid, she is drawn into a tangle of pimps,  drugs and violence, far from the sucker-daddy life she has told herself she has.

At the same time, Member of Parliament Emilia Berg ends up in the spotlight after having spoken out strongly about a political sex purchase scandal. Shocked by someone she knows and trusts is caught red-handed, she soon realizes that the deal is bigger than what has reached the newspapers.

From different directions, Emilia and Vilma are drawn into an escalating, violent conflict. Emilia sees how the judiciary is not able to convict those who commit this type of crime, and how the victims alone are allowed to bear the blame and shame.

Emilia risks everything when powerful people oppose her and her position in the Riksdag, and she is forced into a heartbreaking pursuit of revenge, where she puts her political career at stake.

A high price  is about a crime that happens every day, in the dark corners of a reality few of us see. It is about victims of crime who are suspected and harmed for life, and about criminals who go free time and time again.
